Where He’s From:

Dr. Vise grew up in Springfield, Missouri, with his parents and older sister.

Education:

• Graduated from Drury College in 1987 with a degree in Psychology and minors in Business and Music
• Earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis School of Optometry in 1992

Advanced Training & Early Career:

• Completed a hospital-based residency at the VAMC in Albuquerque, where he received extensive training in managing diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma
• Became the first optometrist to work at UNMH Hospital in Albuquerque, providing primary eye care and contact lenses while also teaching medical students and residents

Experience:

• Worked at Lovelace Medical Group in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, providing primary eye care and managing ocular diseases while taking call for emergency patients
• Spent 18 years in medical clinics and another 10 years in private practice throughout the Albuquerque metro area, Santa Fe, and surrounding communities
• Owned and operated his own office next to an independent optical shop in Santa Fe

Giving Back:

Dr. Vise has volunteered with Voluntary Optometric Services to Humanity, providing free eye care to hundreds of patients in Iguala, Mexico (1991) and Lucea, Jamaica (1996).

Outside the Office:

He lives in Santa Fe with his dogs, Benny and Pumpkin. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, and snowboarding — and he’s also a talented musician, playing drums and singing with local Albuquerque bands for over 20 years!
